Financing an Exoskeleton: CARSAT, AGEFIPH Grants and 2026 Subsidies

How much does an exoskeleton cost?

The budget varies significantly depending on the type of model:

• Passive exoskeleton: €500 to €3,000 per unit
• Active exoskeleton: €5,000 to €45,000
• Rental / leasing: starting from €100/month for a passive model

For deployment with 10 operators using passive models, expect to spend between €5,000 and €30,000. A significant investment, but one that can be partially financed.

CARSAT / Health Insurance Grants

The Health Insurance – Occupational Risks offers prevention grants for companies with 1 to 49 employees. The "Prevention of Ergonomic Risks" grant can fund the purchase of exoskeletons as part of a plan to prevent MSDs.

Eligibility criteria:

• Company with 1 to 49 employees, general regime
• Member of an occupational health service
• Updated single risk assessment document (less than one year old)
• Minimum investment of €2,000 excluding tax
• Prior ergonomic diagnosis in line with the INRS approach

Amount: up to 50% of the investment, capped at €25,000. The application is made via the AT/MP account on net-entreprises.fr.

Important: in 2026, exoskeletons are not listed on the standard FIPU (Investment Fund for the Prevention of Wear) list. However, the "MSD Action" grant can include them if the action plan resulting from the ergonomic analysis recommends it.

AGEFIPH and FIPHFP: Disability and Job Retention

For workers with disabilities (RQTH), two organizations can finance an exoskeleton:

• AGEFIPH (private sector): technical aid for disability compensation, up to €5,250 for workplace adaptation
• FIPHFP (public service): support for integration and job retention projects

The application is based on a file with ergonomic analysis of the position and the opinion of the occupational physician.

Prevention Contracts (companies > 200 employees)

Companies with more than 200 employees can enter into a prevention contract with their regional fund (CARSAT, CRAMIF, or CGSS). This contract, signed by industry sector, can include funding for exoskeletons in the action plan.

Other Funding Options

• MSA (agricultural regime): AFSA (Simplified Agricultural Financial Aid) for agricultural operations
• Regional project calls: some regions, CCI, or local authorities offer one-time equipment aid
• Leasing: spread payments without initial contribution, with maintenance included
• Disability Mission of large companies: dedicated budget for workplace adaptation
